Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Don’t be afraid of making messes, or of getting lost. Sometimes messes are maps to works of art and losing the way is the best way to finding yourself. Suvidha Mistry

Profile

Suvidha Mistry has 20 picture books to her credit and many more are in the offing.

Suvidha Mistry has illustrated for various publishing houses in India. Her training in graphic art led to various jobs with multimedia and advertising agencies. But her life really began the day she illustrated a children’s book. This gave her an opportunity to experiment with pencils, Gouache and water colours as well as application-based illustrations.

Suvidha has been honoured by the Association of Writers and Illustrators for Children (AWIC) and has participated in the Nambook010, International Children’s Book Festival, Korea 2010. Her works have been exhibited in Korea and Bratislava.

Suvidha is an avid traveller and believes that there are many paths that lead to one’s dreams and wishes to explore them all. Long drives are her passion and she enjoys her journeys immensely and comes back laden with new ideas, dazzling memories and bag full of textured stones and twigs.

Suvidha is the co-founder of Akka Bakka, an artist’s collective, and when she’s not introducing children to the world of art and crafts, she is busy tending to her garden.  Apart from illustrating, she also conducts creative workshops for children.
