The Dalai Lama has long been one of the world’s most iconic figures. As the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people and one of the wisest Buddhist scholars alive today, he enjoys international acclaim. Swiss photographer Manuel Bauer has been following the Dalai Lama since 1990, capturing his presence in atmospheric images taken on his numerous trips abroad, at his many public engagements, and in the privacy of his own home in northern India.

Taken between 1990 and 2024, the 235 photographs in this book, many of which have never before been published, afford us a unique glimpse of the life and works of the Dalai Lama.
