When I illustrate for children, I’ve come to realise, I’m my own target audience – both as an adult and with my remembered worldview from when I was a child. I think that helps me not presume that I know what children want to see and will enjoy. Instead I try to lead them into the way I see and what I enjoy. I think that brings in a certain honesty in my work. Aniruddha Mukherjee

Profile

A master of fine arts from Delhi School of Art, Aniruddha doodles non-stop, photographs riversides, and can usually be spotted next to a pile of children's books.

Aniruddha has illustrated a number of books for children. His works move from the figurative to the fantastical, and use a variety of media from paint to print.

Apart from illustrating books for children – which he enjoys the most – he’s also worked on other projects including painting, digital assemblages, murals and wallscapes.
